Founding of Starboard

A group of friends with a vision and one boat. Timo, Guy, Stefan and Wilfred started Starboard Boats Amsterdam in 2018 with our first boat, de Manke Monnik.

Moving into our Herengracht office

In 2019 we decided to rent an office on on the main canal belt of Amsterdam. This beautiful 17th century Herengracht building, gave us a strategic position on Amsterdam's waterways.

We purchased our second boat

In July 2020 we managed to purchase our second boat, De Johnny Kraaijkamp, it was now time to expend the team and increase the size of our operation.

Becoming an expert in Private Canal Cruises

Slowly we became one of the marketing leaders in Private Canal Cruises and we started to build a client base of happy returning (corporate) guests.

Fleet Expension

At the end of 2021 we managed to expand our fleet with 4 new beautiful boats making us a serious player in the Amsterdam Canal Cruise market.

Spreading the Joy with Shared Cruises

With a larger fleet at hand, we started to focus on Shared Cruises, giving us the opportunity to meet thousands of new happy guests each week.

Growth Growth Growth

In 2024 we started to build six more beautiful electric boats, taking our fleet to twelve. Our team also grew to over 100 hospitable, fun and driven people.

The tour was really lovely, the tour guide was very nice and gave us lots of tips and information about Amsterdam, what food places to go to as well. There was so much alcohol on the boat and also soft drinks. It was a really lovely experience for our first night in Amsterdam. Would 100% recommend.

It was an amazing time had a blast and the crew and other people were a vibe. Good value for money with the drinks. Worth it if you are in Amsterdam. Great way to see the city.

The Captain and host were very friendly and kind. The information was very interesting but they also made it fun. We had a wonderful time and would strongly recommend this trip. I am a wheelchair user and access to the boat from the Red Light District was easy and everyone very helpful.

It was super fun the guys that were in the boat the skipper and guide were incredibly funny and kind. I went by myself and they made it such a welcoming experience. Plus the facts and info was good. All around I enjoyed it and I’m going again with friends so they can experience it.

This was the best boat tour I have ever been on in my entire life. The host and skipper were incredibly kind and blessed us with an amazing amount of information. They were beyond fantastic and are beyond over qualified!
