With the unprecedented success of our last edition, Starboard boats are already looking forward to the next event. With last editions light festival seeing us welcome over 10.000 guests onto our brand-new boats, we are hoping to see many of these guests return and welcome aboard many more new faces to enjoy this fantastic annual festival of some of the world’s finest contemporary art against the backdrop of Amsterdam’s beautiful and historic 17th century canal belt.
Amsterdam Light Festival 2022 dates
The Amsterdam Light Festival 2022-23 is set to run from the 1st December 2022 at 16:30 until the 22nd January 2023 21:45. The exhibitions will be illuminated during the evenings and Starboard’s boats will be setting sail regularly throughout the festival. In these dark winter months, the brightly lit instillations lining the beautiful canals are certainly a cheering sight!
Amsterdam Light Festival tickets
The tours will depart daily from the Jungle Dock at 16:45, 17:00, 18:15, 18:30 20:00, 20:15, 21:30 & 21:45. One tour takes 75 minutes.
Tickets for our public ALF cruises only cost €35 on Weekend & Holidays or €29 on weekdays, p.p, for adults and €20 p.p for children including an open bar Amsterdam Light Festival fee. Get your tickets for this edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival quick since seating is limited!
Amsterdam light festival theme Imagine Beyond
During the eleventh edition, Amsterdam Light Festival takes visitors by the hand to the world of imagination, with the theme ‘Imagine Beyond’. The world is moving, nothing appears to be the ordinary anymore. Imagination enables us to exceed the here and now, envision the day of tomorrow however we like and dream along. Get carried away to places beyond the well-known. Stare through the portals and let your imagination run free. What do you see? Are we talking to lamps? Are there only virtual bridges? Does water flow uphill? Join us on a journey to the world of imagination with twentysome specially selected light artworks made by international and national artists.

Amsterdam Light Festival route
Setting sail from the Jungle Dock, the route goes through some of the most picturesque and historic waterways of East Amsterdam such as: Oosterdok, Oudeschans, the Amstel River, Nieuwe Keizersgracht! Plantage Muidergracht and, finally Entrepotdok.
